The Wayzata Rage U16 Girls Premier won the Minnesota State Cup on 5/30 with a 2-1 victory over long time rival Eden Prairie. The Rage advanced to the Championship Game with a strong effort in a 4-1 win over number 1 seed Minnesota Thunder Academy.
The Championship Game was a classic nail biter. Game time ended with a 0-0 score with both teams missing opportunities to win the game in regulation. In the first overtime top Wayzata forward Taylor Wodnick put Wayzata ahead with a rocket shot from outside the box. EP's big scorer Taylor Uhl tied the game moments later with a strong header from a hard cross. The 2 overtimes ended with a 1-1 tie.
The game was decided in a shootout and not until the eighth Rage shooter put the ball past the EP keeper. The Rage goalie Megan Pyrz made some outstanding saves in the shootout to secure the victory. It was a great victory for all the Rage players who played with passion and determination. Congratulations to the Wayzata Rage players and Coach Nour Aboussir.

With the win, the rage earn a trip to Regionals held in Sioux Falls, SD (June 19-24th) to represent Minnesota and play against other State Cup Champions. The region II champion will move on to Nationals with an opportunity to play other regional champions for the national title on 21st July in Lancaster, MA
